A book talk has been defined as a short presentation about a book with the goal of convincing other people to read it. It is NOT a simple review or book report. Rather, the goal of a book talk is to engage the participants with a fun, exciting, and even suspenseful commercial for a particular book.
For me, a book talk is much more! It is a performance – literally! I want to “hook” listeners using magic tricks, storytelling, puppets, puzzles, interactive games and more. While most book talks are usually about 2-3 minutes, my talks are a bit more. In fact, you might call refer to the “talks” on this site as a “Book Talks – PLUS!”
Here is a sample book talk from the Once Upon a Time series. It is called The Tortoise and the Hare.
